Have you spotted the virtual docks for the West Midlands Cycle Hire here in Harborne?

Back in March, 5 virtual docking stations were launched in Harborne, which was supported by us here at the Harborne Village BID.

This was initially set to be a two month trial, however these docks are set to be made permanent!

Having this scheme here in our Village is beneficial for many reasons, particularly as it gives us new and more eco-friendly options to travel in and around Harborne.

In the past 28 days, the docks have seen 711 outbound journeys and 658 inbound journeys. The Harborne High Street bay has been our most popular spot, but many journeys have also been made from our other locations.

The bikes can be found on the High Street, Quinton Road – Grove Lane, Lordswood Road, Greenfield Road and Barlows Road.

Some of the most common routes seen in the past 28 days are to University Station Birmingham, Bourne Brook, Metchley Hall and Birmingham City Hospital.

Although there is a spike in popularity on Fridays and Saturdays, the bays are seeing activity across the week, and we hope to see this continue as we encourage biking for both commuting and leisure.

Have you used our virtual docks in Harborne? We are very pleased that they are set to be permanent, and we look forward to more people benefitting from this scheme!
