It is with great sadness that we learned of the recent passing of Lachlan Macpherson, known by us all as "Mac".
Mac was the owner of Macphersons Appliances on Clarence Road. He lived in Harborne with his wife and daughter and traded in Harborne for almost 40 years. He was a huge advocate for Harborne, having been involved in the old Traders Association and then the Harborne Business Association. As a key member of the HBA, Mac was was instrumental in the development of the Harborne Village BID and when the BID started in January 2018, Mac was one of the original directors of the BID and remained so for many years.
Even after he stepped back from the board of directors in 2022, he continued to be engaged in our work and was always very supportive from the sidelines, there to offer advice and support.
Mac knew so much about Harborne, it's history, who owned what, who was who and if there was a story to tell, he'd tell it. Mac championed Harborne. He always wanted the best for the area and did what he could to support the High Street businesses. He ate in the local restaurants, drank coffee in the coffee shops and would always share any good experiences he'd had.
Mac will be dearly missed by Harborne and we thank him for everything he did to make it a better place.
