Happy May half-term Harborne, the last break before summer is here!

The May half term is the perfect opportunity to head out into the high street, enjoy the late spring weather and prepare for summer!

Here are some of our favourite ideas, from food to fashion to getting those errands done before school and work start back up again!

Activities

Harborne Library

Join the Harborne Library this half term for a free storytime & craft session. Little ones can listen to stories on the theme of castles and knights and have a go at designing their own coat of arms.

The session will take place on Friday 31st May, from 2:15 – 3:00pm. No booking is required!

Harborne Pool and Fitness
Get your kids moving this half-term at Harborne Pool and Fitness! The local community fitness centre has swimming pool family fun sessions running all week so you can make a splash with family and friends!

Places are limited so head to the Pool and Fitness website to book your place now.

Health

Signature Orthodontics are running a special offer when you book an appointment during half term!

Your little ones can spring into a new smile without missing any school time. When booking an appointment over half term you’ll receive a Free Consultation with a Specialist Orthodontist, £250 Cash off Treatment, Free Fixed & Removable Retainers and a Goodie Bag!

It’s not just your teeth that need looking after. Our local opticians, like Bainbridge, Brittain Opticians and The Eye Collective, offer eye tests, eye health tests and ranges of new, unique frames to have you back and better than ever in the office or classroom!

Haircuts

Another half term errand so many of us have on our to-do lists: Haircuts!

Lucky for you, Harborne is full of the very best hair salons and barbers that can help you with a late spring refresh, just in time for summer. A lovely offer to take advantage of is Gentlemen’s Retreat, who have a Father & Son under 16 package. The excellent team at Edit Barbers can also have you looking sharp with Kids Cuts for 7 – 12 year olds and a special Young Lads cut for 13 – 17 year olds.

For salons, you can make the most of Suyo Hairdressing’s new customer offer, with 10% off your first cut (or 20% your first colouring).

Getting School Ready

Finish up school strong or replace all accessories that have gone missing throughout the year. One stop into WHSmith, Osbornes or Home Bargains to stock up on new stationary, water bottles and notepads.

Eating Out

El Buen Gusto

For a taste of Europe before you set off on holiday, head to El Buen Gusto! The family run Spanish restaurant on the high street offers tapas and Spanish classics! And from Tuesday – Sunday, kids can eat for just £1 when their El Niño meal is ordered with an adult meal.

The Cod’s Scallops

Sometimes you just can’t beat a classic! The Cod’s Scallops is conveniently located right at the heart of the high street and offers a wide ranging menu of fish dishes. In the warm weather, you can enjoy your meal out on our high street benches!

Green Man

If you’re looking for some pub grub, Green Man has a great selection ready for half-term – choose between the smaller appetites menu for ages 7 and under, and the larger appetites menu for 12 and under, with one, two or three courses on offer.

The Plough

The Plough is renowned for their tasty brunches, but did you know they have a kids brunch menu too? Their children’s mains also come with a free dessert, so you’re covered whatever time of day you join them.

And as always, The Plough are running their special offer for Teachers and Teaching Assistants. From Monday 27th – Friday 31st, teachers can bring along a school lanyard, email or payslip to receive 20% off your food bill!

Beyond Harborne

Did you know that when you travel via National Express West Midlands, you can save on a range of family fun days out! Local fun days you can take advantage of include 50% off Thinktank, 30% off the Sea Life Centre and Bear Grylls Adventure, 25% off the Black Country Living Museum and 20% off West Midlands Police Museum and the Botanical Gardens
