The Commonwealth Games is coming to Harborne!

The Commonwealth Games in Birmingham are fast approaching, and we can’t wait to celebrate it right here in Harborne!

As Harborne is so close to many of the Games’ venues, and we expect many tourists and even athletes to be so close by, we really want to get into the full spirit, so we have secured our “Screen on the Green” to show all the action!

This will include the opening and closing ceremonies – think Henman Hill but in Harborne!

You can find the screen on the Village Green (between Nursery and North Roads).

On Thursday 28th July, we’ll be kicking off celebrations with family film Turbo from 5pm, then the opening ceremony coverage will start at 7pm.

Then to continue our summer of sport, on Sunday 31st July we’ll be showing Bend It Like Beckham, then the Women’s Euros Finals from 4pm – good luck Lionesses!

More details about the closing ceremony, on Monday 8th August, will be coming very soon.

We will also be showing events from the Games during peak shopping times. 

Make sure you pack your own blankets and chairs to enjoy our amazing outdoor space and (hopefully) the sunshine!

Since we are celebrating the Commonwealth Games locally, we want to make the most of the amazing businesses that make up our Village! Keep an eye out for all our local businesses’ special deals and other incentives from our top places to eat, drink and shop.

Please note, we expect extra traffic and diversions in Harborne during the Games, so please keep this in mind when celebrating in our area – find out more here.
