By Business, COVID-19

The rules have been updated regarding the use of face coverings in England, from 30th November.

Masks will be compulsory again in shops and on public transport. Other areas where they will be required include post offices, banks, estate and letting agents, pharmacies, takeaways, transport hubs and driving lessons.

These rules do not currently apply to hospitality.

This will be reviewed every three weeks; it is hoped that this measure will slow the spread of the Omicron coronavirus variant.

More information is set to be released about the booster jab programme, and who will be eligible.

It is also important to follow self-isolation rules if you develop any of these symptoms:

  • A new continuous cough.
  • A high temperature.
  • A loss of, or change in, your normal sense of smell or taste.

If so, you should arrange for a PCR test, and if your test is positive, you must self-isolate until 10 days after the day you first developed symptoms.

We all want to stay safe this Christmas, so we hope everyone works together and has a great festive period shopping and supporting local here in Harborne!

If you would like any resources to print out to promote this new guidance, Birmingham City Council have issued these posters, which can be downloaded below.
